Learning Express Library: High School Equivalency Center

Students must be at least 16 years old in order to enroll in GED classes. Students who are under the age of 18 or who are current high school students, need to obtain a “Release from Compulsory Attendance” form from the high school before attending classes or taking the GED Tests.

The release form is available from the school district.

To sign up for classes please:

  • contact Student Services at (503) 842-8222 ext. 1100
  • visit them at our main campus, 4301 Third Street, Tillamook
  • or email studentservices@tillamookbaycc.edu

The GED class costs $15 per term. Students can sign up at any time during the term. The course is self-paced, and students can begin taking the actual GED tests whenever they feel comfortable with the content.

*Please note, taking the GED course is not necessary to take the GED tests, but might be recommended depending on the last time you were in school*

GED tests must be taken online in the TBCC Testing Center, Room 209. The Testing Center is open Monday 9AM-7PM, Tuesday 9AM-3:30PM and Thursday 3:30PM-7PM. Please contact us ahead of time to see if there is the possibility for testing on alternative days.

Sign-up, scheduling, and payment for testing is done online at www.ged.com. Step-by-step instructions are provided. If you are having trouble scheduling, please contact the TBCC Library at 503-842-8222 ext: 1720. You may take the tests without taking the GED preparation classes.

Please bring current government-issued photo identification which includes a signature to your testing appointment. We cannot use your college ID for identification.

All GED tests have an onscreen calculator (except Language Arts). If you prefer to use a handheld calculator, you may bring in your own. The calculator must be a TI-30XS calculator, NO OTHER MODELS ARE ALLOWED. You may not use your cell phone as a calculator.

Lockers are available at the Test Center if you need to store any personal belongings, or you may leave everything but your ID in your car prior to entering the Testing Center.

The fee is $38.00 per test or $152.00 for all four tests, however, prices are subject to change. If you are not able to pay the fee, the college may be able to help.

If you need help, contact Clare Sobotka at (503) 842-8222 ext. 1710 or email her at claresobotka@tillamookbaycc.edu.

We encourage and invite all GED completers and their guests to participate in the annual TBCC Graduation as a celebration of your achievement.

All GED test results and transcripts can be accessed through your account on www.GED.com.

Completing the GED, the equivalent of a high school diploma, is an important step in a student’s education and future.
