Testing and Proctoring: College Credit Testing

Students can test out of college level courses at TBCC or any other college that accepts credit for prior learning. These tests can be taken in the TBCC Library, but you should contact the college you are attending, or trying to attend in order to confirm that they will accept credits earned this way.

We currently can offer college credit testing through:

  • CLEP - â€‹Purchase of the test(s) should be made through the test's website, and then a testing appointment will be made by contacting the TBCC Library.
  • DSST/DANTES - A testing appointment will be made by contacting the TBCC Library, then the test will be purchased via debit/credit card at the testing center the day of the test.
  • www.typing.com (only for placement out of TBCC course CAS 121) - The test can be taken for free in the library at any time, but transcripting fees (40% of the tuition) are due within 60 days of passing the test. You will take a 3:00 minute test, and you are looking to to get 35+ WPM with 92%+ accuracy.

Costs of all tests can be found on the tests' website.

TBCC Library charges an additional $30 testing fee, payable on the day of the test, for every test proctored on top of the fees charged by the exam sponsor.

(*Note: DANTES-funded examinees can waive the $30 testing fee*)
